Paying It Forward: Building Young Talent in Short-Term Insurance
Real impact is felt when people are given the space to grow. At TIAL, we believe real development happens when people are supported to learn from leaders who are passionate about insurance. This Youth Day, we celebrate the young professionals stepping into the industry. We also celebrate the leaders and teams who are investing in them, creating opportunities, and walking the journey alongside them.
At Multi Risk Brokers, what stood out was not just a program but a real commitment to developing people. You can see it in the time leaders give, the responsibility they are willing to share, and the steady guidance. Multi Risk Brokers is bringing young graduates into the short-term insurance industry and giving them something real: practical experience, real clients, and a foundation to grow from.
This is what paying it forward looks like in the day-to-day. Multi Risk Brokers is building proficiency by doing the following:
– Bringing graduates into a real working environment
– Giving graduates exposure to real client outcomes, with guidance and support
– Building confidence through meaningful responsibility and consistent feedback
– Creating space for questions, coaching, and learning in practice
When we asked the leaders and graduates what this journey means to them, this is what they shared in their own words:
Leadership:
Oom Piet, Founder and CEO:
Personal motto: “Vasbyt en knorr” (Hold on tight and be determined)
“I strongly believe in teaching people and giving them every possible opportunity
to grow, both within themselves and within the company. Growth is key, not only
in our financial success, but also in the development of our staff. If people are not
given the opportunity to learn, neither they nor the company will truly grow.”
Hendrik, Head of Sales and Marketing and Senior Financial Advisor:
Personal motto: “Make a difference.”
“Young talent is the future of our industry. They bring new energy, fresh ideas and
a willingness to learn. If we guide them properly today, they will become the
trusted advisors and leaders that our clients need tomorrow. Without developing
young people, the broker industry will not thrive in the years ahead.”
From the team of Junior Financial Advisors (Under Supervision), Multi
Risk Brokers:
Zander
Personal motto: “Keep building. One day you will look back and see that you
have created an Empire”.
“When I started in the insurance industry, I never realised the opportunities for
growth and the wide variety of aspects within the market. Every day brings new
challenges, learning experiences, and opportunities to make a difference.”
Reynard
Personal motto: “The cost of never taking a risk is spending the rest of your life
wishing you had.”
“In this line of work. Knowledge is key; otherwise, you won’t succeed. Not all the
leads and chances you take in this industry will pay out, but if you continue giving
valuable advice to clients and sticking to the rules, you will bear the fruits at some
stage. I find that extremely just and satisfying.”
Joshua
Personal motto: ”Your future is created by what you do today; small steps – big
future’’.
“Creating opportunities starts with giving young professionals responsibility and support.
I experienced this first-hand at Multi Risk Brokers. Hendrik and the
whole team of marketers support each other and help each other to learn and to grow.”
Stefan
Personal motto: “Life is like a sandwich, no matter which way you flip it, the bread
comes first.”
“Working at Multi Risk has given me the opportunity to pursue a career I’ve been
passionate about from a young age. I enjoy being part of a professional and
supportive environment where teamwork, growth, and excellent client service are
highly valued. The positive culture within the company, along with colleagues
who are always willing to assist and support one another, makes Multi Risk a
rewarding place to work and develop professionally.”
A note on AI and entry-level roles
There is a growing conversation about AI and what it means for entry-level roles
in our industry. Tools will evolve, and tasks will shift. What remains essential is the
human part of development: judgement, confidence, customer empathy, and
learning how to handle real-world scenarios.
If we want strong leaders tomorrow, we need to build strong foundations today. That
starts with giving young people meaningful experience, supported by
mentorship.
Pay it forward with us:
If you are already investing in training and upliftment, or exploring where to start,
tell us in the comments section below. Your approach could be the inspiration that helps
someone else take that first step.
Paying it forward is how strong leaders develop others, consistently and with care.
Systems change. Job titles change. Even industries evolve. The footprint that lasts
is the one we leave in the hearts of young people, through time, trust, and the opportunity to
grow.
